A LITTLE KOOKERY

When Kookery started it was created by words that had meaning to me, words that made me happy, words like Food, Community, Design and Beauty.

After the hype and transiency of my 20's came the calm of my 30's and so came the realisation that it was the daily rituals and the beauty of simple things around me, that when noticed are truly lovely & beautiful.

It was the moments that counted, the moments spent with wonderful friends, moments of sheer visual pleasure of beautifully presented plate of food, a fabulous glass of wine, dark moody chocolate paired with red wine rich and dramatic, growing veges in the garden or going to a market and selecting the beautiful produce and creating a meal. Sitting in the sun with a cup of tea in the afternoon, the smell of freshly baked biscuits or cake, morning coffee served with the buzz of the morning rush people heading in all directions coming together to share a moment before a busy day.

It is these moments that inspired Kookery, it is seeing the beauty in something we use every day, stopping and looking at it in profile, in detail. Remembering what it is that we love about our lives, whether it is caffeine or cookbooks. (Or both in my case)

Each of the images I use, are special to me, they have been created for impact, to be bold, to make us appreciate the silhouette of something that is simple and around us most days.

Vintage is a huge part of my design process. I also love to hand draw simple images or use items that are well used and trusted part of my kitchen arsenal.

It is with these thoughts that I hope to make a little bit of Practical fun for your kitchen and home, to give as a gift to make someone a laugh but still have something beautiful, or to think, 'wow that is me' when you see a quote and use this as your kitchen mantra.

Kookery to me is celebrating the little things we love.

Special thanks to French cheese, caffeine, vintage cutlery & of course my lovely family.
